Lufthansa Cabin Baggage Allowance Maximum Size

Dimensions of 55 cm by 40 cm by 23 cm are the maximum carry on size allowed with Lufthansa – make sure you fit within this allowance or you could face a fine or have to leave your bag at the airport!

TIP Remember to pre-book your airport parking to save money and time on the day of your flight. This respected company compare the options for you and make it easy.

Lufthansa Cabin Baggage Weight Limit

There is a weight limit of 8kg (this is quite a low weight limit, Ryanair offers 10kg but of course you get checked luggage free with Lufthansa e.t.c.)

Suitable Cabin Bags for Lufthansa

Based on the Lufthansa cabin bag allowance both these cabin bags are suitable for their flights and fit the Lufthansa hand luggage dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm.

Recommended cabin bag for Lufthansa

My current recommendation is the  Cabin Max Frankfurt Messenger 50x34x20cm.  It fits within the Lufthansa cabin bag allowance, has a separate laptop compartment and is a decent, sturdy and lightweight bag. Click to see the 4.5 star reviews, product info and current price.  Or check out my detailed review of this messenger bag.  It is also very inexpensive and LESS THAN the HOLD LUGGAGE FEE on each flight.

Alternatively, if you want a backpack the other Cabin Max in a range of colours may take your fancy but I prefer the Frankfurt. Review of that bag here.

Lufthansa Additional Items Allowed On Board Outside of Cabin Baggage

You are also allowed:

an additional small bag like a laptop or handbag of up to 30 cm x 40 cm x 10 cm.

Children`s equipment like pushchairs or car seats

Crutches/walking sticks

Lufthansa First Class and Business Class Cabin Baggage Allowance

2 bags of 55cm by 40 cm by 23cm.

You may be asked to put one of your cabin bags in the hold if the flight is busy but this will be free and at no extra cost though not ideal.
