Emirates Airline Cabin Baggage Rules
Emirates have a rather small cabin baggage allowance, particularly if you are flying economy class. However, they do offer a very generous hold luggage policy, (30 kg for economy class, 40 kg for business and 50 kg for first class.), so it is less of a problem.
Still, cabin baggage offers many advantages over hold luggage so you may prefer to just take a cabin bag to skip the baggage queue and have increased mobility.
Emirates Economy Cabin Baggage Rules
You can take 1 piece of cabin baggage which must not exceed the dimensions of:
Dimensions: 55 x 38 x 20 cm (22 x 15 x 8 inches)
The weight limit for hand luggage in Emirates economy is 7 kg. See how this weight limit compares to other airlines with our comparison chart.
Recommended Hand Luggage for Emirates
The Cabin Max ‘I am Max Metropolitan’ cabin bag fits the Emirates hand luggage dimensions at 55 x 35 x 20 cm and is a well designed by a good company (I have some of their other bags). The 38 cm for Emirates means most hand luggage bags are not suitable because are 40cm so this really is probably the best option for carry on luggage for Emirates flights.
The bag also has a special padded laptop compartment to protect your gadgets as well as multiple compartments for organising your packing and it is also shower resistant.
Also note `Wheelie` bags must not have total dimensions of 114cm (45 inches.)
When you pack you must follow the liquid restrictions which only allow you to take up to 100ml bottles in a clear, resealable plastic bag up to 20cm x 20cm (often available at airports.)
Some destinations such as the USA also have their own hold and hand luggage allowances.
